No. The French are invading….
Posted in Uncategorized on April 28th, 2006 by NotaninjaSo Nintendo corporation based out of Japan has finally either decided to annoy the world, or have developed a devious scheme to make the French language obsolete. I’m not really certain yet, as time will tell. What I am certain of is that the newest line of gaming systems from them has, for lack of a better term, a god-pissing-on-buhda aweful name. The recent annouced that the new line, which had been code name “Revolution”, will be called Wii (pronouced Wee or Oui). The naming is said to bring it to a different realm of console game naming, which it inevitably will. I agree that Revolution is indeed to much like xBox 360 (360 = 1 full revolution) just like Gamecube is too much like the plain xBox (cube = box), but I disagree with changing the system name to something so unorthadox and just plain annoying. As for the French (France sucks!) the term will carry into the realm of “Yes”, which is an easy way to market the system in a country where a frozen trout will allow you conquer it. However, the rest of the world will not find the name so amusing. Now we will have to deal with Wii sounding like Oui, which we will inevitably have to vomit from. Will we like Wii? Oui?!? Already I’m getting sick. Check out the link to hear more response to the name, but as for ME, I’m against it. Go playstation, keep the names user friendly, build your strong brand, and let us know which version is the newest through your clever use of progressing integers (ps1, ps2, ps3….).
